What I do: I help life sciences companies protect their most important assets: their intellectual property. Not all patents are created equal. Designing and developing a successful patent portfolio requires a deep understanding of a company’s business as well as the competitive landscape. I partner with my clients through all stages of their growth, from creating and developing strategic patent portfolios that maximize value, to preparing them for funding, partnerships, acquisitions, or even litigation.
What my clients value: I am part of the team. I want to understand the business so I can proactively consider opportunities to protect key assets with intellectual property, I translate complicated legal risks into business risks, and mitigate those risks creatively.
Why Cooley: You won’t find another law firm that knows more about the issues facing emerging companies than Cooley. It’s what we do. Our bench is deep, and we work collaboratively to provide the best resources for our clients. We identify and solve issues efficiently. Clients also benefit from our extensive network of global contacts, from venture capitalists to bankers to strategic partners.
If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be: I’d be a construction worker. I find the intersection of physical labor and productivity, which results in a tangible work product, very satisfying.
Likes: Spending time with my wife and kids, running half-marathons, and hanging out with friends.
I root for: The Golden State Warriors. #dubnation
